Are Peptides Legal in Colombia?
Colombia is a popular medical tourism destination and INVIMA regulation is moderate, with enforcement that has tightened noticeably during 2026. Clinics in Bogota and Medellin offer peptide therapies and registered medicines are available on prescription. On 25 June 2026 INVIMA issued a public health alert naming six unregistered weight-loss products being sold through social media, messaging apps and digital platforms: retatrutide (two presentations), tirzepatide 10 mg injection, GHK-Cu peptide solution, a LIPO-C plus B12 combination injection, and NAD+ 10 mg/mL solution. INVIMA stated that none hold sanitary registration, that their commercialisation in Colombia is therefore illegal, and that they are considered fraudulent products. The agency reported adverse events including dizziness, fainting, menstrual irregularities, weight gain and altered lipid profiles, and said it would continue inspection, surveillance and control action to remove such products from the market. It has referred cases to the Fiscalia for criminal investigation. The practical position: a product with INVIMA sanitary registration, prescribed and dispensed through the formal system, is lawful. A peptide bought through Instagram or a messaging app is not, and is now actively being pursued.
