Are Peptides Legal in Egypt?

Egypt has a large domestic pharmaceutical industry regulated by the EDA, with moderate enforcement on research peptides. Importing research peptides is restricted, while domestically manufactured medicines are widely available and affordable. Registered medicines such as semaglutide are available on prescription through Egyptian pharmacies and healthcare providers. Import controls mean sourcing locally is more practical than bringing peptides into the country. Worth watching: EDA Decision No. 375 of 2026, issued on 28 June 2026 and in force since 30 June 2026, sets a new framework for the import, distribution, export and dispensing of substances liable to misuse and their preparations. The decision itself does not name substances - it delegates the mechanisms and controls to a regulatory guide issued by the Central Administration for Inspection of Pharmaceutical Institutions and the Central Administration for Drug Policies and Market Support. We have not been able to obtain that guide, so we cannot confirm whether peptides fall within its scope. Anyone planning to import should assume controls have tightened and check the current position with the EDA directly.
